Hessische Truppen im Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg (HETRINA), Band I

Hessische Truppen im Amerikanischen Unabhängigkeitskrieg (HETRINA), Band I is a scholarly source-based study of the participation of troops from the Landgraviate of Hesse-Kassel in the American Revolutionary War.

The volume forms part of the HETRINA research project, which compiles detailed documentation on German auxiliary forces in British service. It focuses on the organization, deployment, and operational history of Hessian units sent to North America between 1776 and 1783.

A central theme is the structure and composition of Hessian military contingents, including infantry, artillery, cavalry, and specialist troops. The study traces how these formations were raised, transported, and integrated into British command structures.

The work also examines the campaign experiences of Hessian forces, including major engagements such as those in New York, New Jersey, and the southern colonies, as well as garrison duty, logistics, and battlefield performance.

Another key focus is the administrative and archival foundation of Hessian participation, drawing on regimental records, correspondence, and official military documentation to reconstruct troop movements and service histories in detail.
